Jeremy Eccles, "Free To Be Isogawa". AsiaWeek.com, vol. 25, no. 40 (October 8, 1999).
"So is he a Japanese designer who has made the most of his high profile Down Under? Or is he an Australian designer whose Japanese sensibility gives his work a multi-cultural appeal?"
"Dissatisfied with academic pressure in Japan, Akira Isogawa left for Australia, where he has become one of the country’s favourite sons in fashion. Carolyn Enting interviews him during [2003] Mercedes Australian Fashion Week."
Exhibition: "Akira Isogawa: Printemps – Été" (Melbourne: The Ian Potter Centre/National Gallery of Victoria, December 3, 2004-March 28, 2005)
"This exhibition focuses on the creative process that Isogawa embarked upon over a five month period in the lead up to the presentation of his spring/summer collection in Paris in October 2004. Beginning with abstract ideas and inspiration, the exhibition follows his creative process moving through a series of collaborations and culminating in the fabrication and presentation of a core group of works from the collection. This elusive process, which is not usually accessible to the public, is revealed through a range of objects, working drawings, sounds, images and completed garments."
Exhibition: "Sourcing the Muse" (Sydney: The Powerhouse Museum, April 12-July 21, 2002)
"Eight Australian fashion designers were invited to look through the Museum's textile and dress collection and select one or more items to use as a source of inspiration for a new work they would create."
