Miss Oliver Writes to the Department of Justice

In 1944, Miss Oliver wrote a letter to the Justice Department's Enemy Alien Control Unit on behalf of Empei Fujita, father of Mustang George Fujita and Bronco Henry Fujita, to advocate for transfer from the Santa Fe prison camp to Heart Mountain, where the rest of his family was interned. It was only one of several such letters she wrote on behalf of the Olivers and other Little Tokyo community members - she also, in her 80s, made a trip to Manzanar to see some of her friends. The Fujitas showed this letter to honorary Oliver Frank Fukuzawa when he was writing his club history.
