収容所へ持っていったスースケース

収容所へは、手に持てる荷物のみしか持って行くことが許されず、日系人の多くは築き上げた財産のほとんどを失いました。また、コミュニティによっては48時間以内の強制退去の命令を受け取るところもありました。

写真にある展示ケースにあるスーツケースは、当時日系人らが、収容所へ行く際に使ったもので、それぞれの家族と荷物には番号札がつけられました。
