DESCRIPTION:The Japanese American Museum of San Jose (JAMsj) presents a Boo
 k Talk\n by John McReynolds\, author of Vanished Lompoc&rsquo\;s Japanese 
 on Saturday\, October 15\, 2011\, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.\n\nThe book 
 covers the experience of Japanese Americans\, who lived\n in Lompoc\, Cali
 fornia for over 40 years\, and were blocked from returning to their homes\
 , after the closure of the internment camps. The book exposes rural Califo
 rnia&rsquo\;s anti-Japanese sentiment and the organized campaign to deny J
 apanese-Americans return to Lompoc. Which included anonymous threats\, a m
 ysterious fire\, and racial exclusion clauses in farm leases. The blocking
 \, initiated by a packing shed owner\, a deputy sheriff and a farm advisor
 \, was 98 percent successful.\n\nMcReynolds interviewed more than 80 survi
 vors and gathered information from\n candid reports by a War Relocation ag
 ent. Those who returned\, faced racial prejudice and harassment\, and by 1
 948 only two Japanese-Americans remained.\n McReynolds&rsquo\; wide range 
 of investigative writing has appeared in twelve California Central Coast n
 ewspapers and magazines.&nbsp\;\n\nVanished and his first book\, Lompoc: P

 amento\, the Japanese American National\n Museum in Los Angeles and the Ja
