The book exposes rural Califo rnia&rsquo\;s anti-Japanese sentiment and the organized campaign to deny J apanese-Americans return to Lompoc. Which included anonymous threats\, a m ysterious fire\, and racial exclusion clauses in farm leases. The blocking \, initiated by a packing shed owner\, a deputy sheriff and a farm advisor \, was 98 percent successful.\n\nMcReynolds interviewed more than 80 survi vors and gathered information from\n candid reports by a War Relocation ag ent.
