Thanks for responding to my question. I'm so impressed with how prolific you seem! I wish I had the time, energy, and commitment to do more. Working here at the Museum and on the Discover Nikkei project keeps me so busy. I haven't done much artwork in years now. I keep thinking I need to start again, but keep putting it off.

Thery are actual crackers; some have 7 to 8 years in good visual conservation. This is an old serie, this september 2nd. I will begin my new exposition cicle called LUZ Y FUEGO (light and fire), which will have artistic lamps and, also, a serie calle "galletas" (crackers), a new ones preserved in other sinthetic material.

I will be glad to comment to everything your curiosity may arise and to respond every questions you may have.

I like this collection of your artwork! It's really interesting and fun. Unfortunately, I don't know Spanish so I can't read your introduction text. I was just wondering, do you use actual crackers and bread, or did you make reproductions of them?

I am half-Japanese and half-Mexican, too. My mom was born and raised in Mexico city, and my dad was raised in East Los Angeles. I am so glad you posted, it's so awesome to find other people that are the same ethnicity as me...

If you have any anecdotes, info, or special memories of Mitsuru Grill, would be great if you could share! I end up going there for lunch at least once a month or more now. Working in Little Tokyo, I eat in the area restaurants often, and it's nice going there sometimes because they have such a variety of food - not just all Japanese food. Oftentimes I'll get the bacon tomato avocado sandwich with either fries or green salad. Or, I like checking out their specials. I usually will get the corned beef cabbage when it's available. It's just like how my mom makes it for St. Patrick's Day. =)

Mitsuru Grill is a restaurant that is doing business for more than 30 years. They have variety of food, and it is one of the popular Japanese restaurant in Little Tokyo. For sports lover, they have a HD TV, and this place can be a Denny's Sports bar, and a sushi bar at the same time. They have a website at www.mitsurusushiandgrill.com. They have their menu posted up so it is much easier to check out the website before you go there.

Interesting to see how ragtag the old sears parts wear they had to make do with back then. My great grandmother ended up in one of these camps. I’ve been reading her dairy and trying to understand her life more.

父、長三郎（1877年鹿児島県出身）は、1897年にワシントン州での鉄道工事の作業員として渡米。
1910年にロサンゼルス北東のパサデナ市で小さなクリーニング店を始めた。
母、つな（1894年鹿児島県出身）は、1912年に嫁ぎ二男二女をもうけた。
やがて鮫島のクリーニング店には大型の洗濯機やプレス機もそろったが、1913年に成立していた外国人土地規制法により、店舗をかねた自宅はリースだった。

「もったいない…、」，「日本人として恥ずかしいことやみっともないことをしてはいけない。」というのが母の口癖で、家の中では我慢，忍耐，義理，義務といった日本的な価値観が尊ばれた。
兄弟は土曜日の日本語学校に通わされ、「朕惟フニ我カ皇祖皇宗國ヲ肇ムルコト宏遠ニ…」と、教育勅語を暗唱させられた。教育勅語は、前後60年以上の今でも諳んじている。

父親は「米国人と対等にやっていくには学問をしなければだめだ。」と、子供たちがアルバイトした小遣いも学資のための債権購入に当てた。
