USSBS responsibility was to inspect plants (factories), buildings, installations, structures, and their contents. Also examination, copy or removal of books, documents, correspondence and official reports and records and interrogation of POW's and the civilian population.

To find out from the civilian population their feelings toward the Americans, and their military leaders and when they felt that Japan was losing the war.

In U.S., slept in barracks.
In Manila, slept in tents.
In Japan, slept in buildings and barracks.
Bathed well in U.S. and in Japan. But in Manila had temporary shower.
In U.S. had well prepared food. But overseas the food most of the time was C Ration.
Gambled and went to movies for entertainment.

Didn't have any significant happenings. But one vivid memory that lingers with me was the pitiful feelings I had seeing the devastated country and the pitiful sights of kids begging for food.
