Internment Camp - 1943, Lemon Creek, B.C.

Located on the leased Harris Ranch, Lemon Creek was one of the internment camps of the “New Denver Relocation Area” under the Security Commission’s wing. 4814 evacuees were located in the Slocan Valley internment camps of Slocan City, Lemon Creek, Popoff, and Bay Farm.

Housing consisted of rows of 28 ft. by 14 ft. uninsulated wood cabins. Outdoor privy served three cabins and communal bath houses “ofuro” served several cabins.

The two story building housed the school and was used for assemblies for concerts, movies, and social events.
