Despite breakthroughs in casting and writing for characters and actors of color, biased images and portrayals still exist that perpetuate negative stereotypes. A panel of leading actors and critics examine the images of Asians in film and on TV. Q&A to follow. 

Panelist Biographies:    

David Ono  Emmy award winning journalist, Ono is co-anchor of ABC7 Eyewitness News  at 4pm and 6pm. Ono has built a reputation as one of the leading Asian American males in the industry.

Parvesh Cheena  A musical theater graduate from the Chicago School of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, Cheena is best known for playing Gupta on NBC's sitcom Outsourced . He is a veteran of TV and film and can also be found doing improv around LA.  

Gina Nahai  Best-selling author and a professor of Creative Writing at the University of Southern California, Nahai’s novel Caspian Rain  was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, and her works have been translated into 18 languages. 

Koji Steven Sakai  American screenwriter and producer Sakai’s latest film Chink  is the first Asian American serial killer film, and made its debut at the 2013 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. Sakai is the Manager of Programs for the Japanese American National Museum.
