The Chicago Chapter of Ohara Ikebana School announced that the 9th North America Ohara Teachers Association (NAOTA) Conference will be held October 25-29, 2010 in City of Chicago.

This is the first time the Chicago Chapter has been selected to host the conference. The 9th NAOTA conference will take place October 25-29 at the Congress Plaza Hotel in downtown Chicago. Headmaster Hiroki Ohara and Chief Executive Officer Wakako Ohara will be in attendance with Professor Kuniaki Seki and Assistant Professor Akihiro Nishi who will conduct 6 sessions of workshop and one demonstration with 10 arrangements including Ohara signature styles: Moribana (Landscape and Color Scheme), Rimpa, Hana-mai, Bunjin, and Hana-isho. Seasonal arrangements such as Fall Colors theme will also be displayed.

Ikebana, Japanese flower arrangement, is one of the Japanese traditional arts, which has been practiced for hundreds of years. Among 3,000 Ikebana schools in Japan, the Ohara School of Ikebana has more than 115 years of history and is one of the three major Ikebana schools in Japan. The Ohara School expands its activities not only in Japan but through out the world and claims more than 1,000,000 students worldwide. The Ohara School emphasizes seasonal qualities, natural growth processes, and the beauty of natural environments.

Ikebana Demonstration is an event open to the public on Friday, October 29, 2010. The Demonstration will start at 5:30 pm and will be followed by a cocktail party and Sayonara Banquet.
