 estone in Japanese-American Community\n\n     ARLETA\, Calif. — Years in
  the making\, Nikkei Senior Gardens is now a reality. The San Fernando Val
 ley assisted living community is celebrating its grand opening with a ribb
 on cutting ceremony at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday\, March 19\, at 9221 Arleta A
 venue. Distinguished guests include District Six Councilman Tony Cardenas\
 , actress Tamlyn Tomita and Japanese Consul Hiroshi Furusawa. Following th
 e ribbon cutting\, guests can enjoy traditional Japanese food\, entertainm
 ent and tours of the campus.\n\n“The opening of this community is a sign
 ificant moment for Japanese-Americans in the community\,” said Allan Sli
 ght\, executive director of Nikkei Senior Gardens. “Countless hours have
  been put into bringing this community to fruition\, and we are so glad th
 e day is finally here.” It will be especially moving for two leaders of 
 the local Japanese community\, Harold Muraoka and Harry Nakada\, both of w
 hom have worked for over a decade turning their dream of dignified living 
 for their beloved elders into a reality. \n\nNikkei Senior Gardens will in
 clude 68 private assisted living apartments and 10 memory support apartmen
 ts\, with special care taken to ensure the residents have an active\, mult
 i-cultural experience. With enhanced quality of life and peace of mind bei
 ng the community’s top priorities\, the community will offer maintenance
 -free living\, three nutritious Japanese and Western meals daily\, a wide 
 variety of social activities\, fitness classes\, scheduled transportation\
 , around-the-clock staffing and more. \nResidents also have convenient acc
 ess to the Metro bus lines\, a post office\, retail stores and a major sho
 pping center. Plus\, The Japanese-American Community Center and the Nikkei
  Pioneer Center will be just a few short blocks away. \n\nAnother amenity
