state of media

This was a very interesting article about the state of Brazilian media in Japan, but can also be relevant to larger media concerns here in the U.S. I think all media globally is trying to figure out how to coexist and form positive relationships with the internet, and I do see many very specialized publications.

I thought it was particularly interesting to read about the shift in the mindset of the Brazilian Nikkei community there. It sounds very much like the historic immigration here to the U.S. where most or many Issei weren't actually planning on settling here. The modern-day reversal between Japan and the Americas - to seek employment, fortune, etc., but eventually largely staying and building communities instead is very intriguing to me. It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out in the future.

The Brazilian media in Japan, as well as most of the world’s communication processes, has undergone accelerated growth followed by significant diversification and segmentation.
