Celebrating the Festival’s 10th Anniversary

Celebrate spring at the 10th annual Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival of Greater Philadelphia. From April 9 – April 22, the Festival offers Japanese culture for all ages. Cuisine, crafts, music, dance, traditional customs and awe-inspiring performances showcase Japanese style and culture in venues across the city. During the first week, shoppers and strollers in Liberty Place will find free mid-day performances and demonstrations in the Rotunda. Other Festival highlights include Sake tasting and Sushi Spectacular at Loews Philadelphia Hotel.

The new Cherry Blossom Festival Sidewalk Parade takes to Center City streets on Friday, April 13, 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. starting at Liberty Place Rotunda and ending at Rittenhouse Square with entertainment, food and Japanese-themed exhibitors! On April 15, visitors to Sakura Sunday — a daylong extravaganza of art, food and entertainment — can enjoy a tea ceremony, martial arts demonstrations, origami, kite making workshops, and taiko drumming and dance, among other activities.

Shofuso, a 16th Century Japanese house and garden that is beloved by Fairmount Park visitors, is also open throughout the day for tours. All Sakura Sunday and most of the other events are free. Complete event listings, performance schedules and ticket information are available at http://jasgp.org/sakura/ or call 215-790-3810.
