pseudonym

According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, Carrie Asai is a collective pseudonym. The Samurai Girl book series which the mini-series is based on was developed by editors at Alloy Entertainment. After the initial idea was passed around after an in-house brainstorming meeting, they assigned a group of writers to complete the project. The article doesn't mention the names of who the actual writers are...or whether any of them are of Japanese or even Asian descent at all.

sakoda family

I've heard about rhis story and had heard a little about Jimmy Sakoda, but it was really interesting learning about him as a person. Actually, the most surprising discovery was when I recognized who his wife is. A year ago I wouldn't have, but at the end of last year we interviewed her for the Museum Store Online. It was a really interesting story. She shared some memories of growing
up in Little Tokyo. The article is also on Discover Nikkei: "Stories from Little Tokyo: The Woman in the Picture"

Thanks for sharing that article! I had never heard of him. It's great how they're honoring him and how much he has been appreciated. It's pretty incredible that the only person to be guaranteed a job for life that the Wrigleys included in the deal was him.

I recently watched the Dodgers' 50th anniversary in Los Angeles game on TV and it's had me reminiscing about baseball lately. I never knew that a JA was the clubhouse manager for the team!
