I have a Japanese friend who moved to Sevilla, a city in the Andalucia region (southern Spain), after a vacation visit to study Flamenco. He has lived there for over ten years now and is a Flamenco instructor in Sevilla. I know two other Japanese people who live in Sevilla and a family in Madrid who moved there because of their father's job.
Though there is no established Japanese community in Spain, there are plenty of Japanese restaurants and are on the rise. Interestingly, all of the Japanese restaurants I ate at in Sevilla were owned by Chinese immigrants. In Madrid, however, there was more of a variety in Japanese cuisine and one of the restaurants I went to was owned by a Japanese. Almost all of the waiters were Japanese college-age students.
Does anyone know of Japanese immigrants in Spain? If so, please share your story!
I really don't know about Japanese immigrants in Spain. But Discover Nikkei links to one Spanish article about the last name "Japón" in Spain.

It's quite interesting! According to this article, the first Japanese went to Coria del Rio from Mexico (New Spain). They were some of the emissaies, who were sent by Masamune Date. People who has the last name Japón may be decendents of some emissaries.
