The Man Who Helped Save Little Tokyo
The Rafu Shimpo has a really nice story by Martha Nakagawa about Reuben Lovret, who as a city planner for Los Angeles during the 1960s helped to save Little Tokyo. He knew that there were some in City Hall that wanted it to disappear. Through his encouragement and vision, the Japanese American community organized to form the Little Tokyo Redevelopment Association (LTRA) despite the harm that it could do to his career.
