A couple of weeks ago, I went for lunch with a large group over to Reikai's Kitchen in Los Angeles' Little Tokyo, a restaurant attached to the Little Tokyo Towers senior housing complex. We were surprised to see it closed and saddened to find out that it was because the owner, Rev. Richard Nozaki, had suddenly passed away.

The food there was reasonably priced, with good-sized portions, and very homey. It was a fairly large space and spread out almost like a cafeteria. I regret that I didn't go more often, but because of its location, it was easy to forget it was over there.

I was there in March of this year because we held the Rising Stars Youth Leadership Program graduation there, and Rev. Nozaki was there making sure to take care of whatever we needed. He even found us a bowl for us to use for our raffle tickets.

The Rafu Shimpo has a nice article about him and his many and varied accomplishments throughout his life:
