Landscapes in Black and White: An Interactive Community Display - Open Call for Photo Submissions
In conjunction with the Ansel Adams at Manzanar exhibition on display November 11, 2006, through February 18, 2007 at the Japanese American National Museum, photographers of all ages and skill levels are invited to submit a black & white photograph capturing the memories and the long-term impact of the World War II incarceration of Japanese Americans. The purpose of this community display is to explore how photographs capture the feelings and emotions behind historical events—in particular the Japanese American World War II experience—and focuses on the following photographic themes: landscapes, portraits, and community life. Black & white photographs showing the long-term impact of and reactions to the camps (i.e. camp pilgrimages and reunions, civil rights demonstrations, etc.) are also encouraged. You do not need to be a photographer or artist to participate. There is no entry fee and everyone is encouraged to participate. Photographs will be displayed at the National Museum as a part of the Landscapes in Black & White interactive display as well as online at the Discover Nikkei web site within Nikkei Album. Photos selected to be a part of the exhibition are at the sole discretion of the National Museum staff. Find out how to participate >> |
