The Nichi Bei Times has an article by Aya Oikawa about a San Jose Japantown senior/youth center proposal that was prsented at a community meeting earlier this month. According to the article, it is an effort to expand the services and programs in the area. The plan was proposed by Yu-Ai Kai (a senior service organization) working in collaboration with the Community Youth Service.

The plans include a gym which would be open during the day on weekdays for seniors and other fitness classes. Weekdays after 5pm and all day on weekends would be for youth and judo classes. They hope that it will draw younger generations to the area to revitalize and create community ties, while providing enriched support for seniors.
