New Housing in Little Tokyo

I think the housing projects are bad for the other business's in Little Tokyo. Since construction of these Condos and Apartment building are taking away crucial parking spots in Little Tokyo. For example, we are losing parking lots that were used for cultural fairs like the Nisei Week Carnival and Tofu Festival. Also parking lots once used by the local Temples and Churches for parking for people working and going to O'bon festivals and other church functions. I also dont like the way Little Tokyo is looking with the Office Depot, Quiznos and other normal American Shops, I think they ruin the feel of Japan Town. My favorite places closed down that were in the former Yaohan Mall, like the bowling alley and movie theatre that was on the 2nd and 3rd floors. I know the new housing are bringing more people to Little Tokyo, but you dont need to change the stores and change the rest of Japan Town. Well, this is just my opinion, what does other people think?

If you haven't visited downtown Los Angeles in the last few years, you might not recognize it anymore. The first wave of construction started in the late 90s when long neglected buildings were transformed into upscale lofts under the term "adaptive re-use" mostly in the city's historic core. What followed was the construction of new large scale housing projects throughtout all the downtown districts from South Park to the Fashion District to Chinatown.
