After seeing the Cold Case episode, "Family 8108," I went online to see what people were saying. I found this post on About.com in reference to genealogy. It has links to looking up family records from the camps.

http://genealogy.about.com/b/2007/12/10/world-war-ii-internment-records.htm

I followed one of the links and found my family in the Records of the War Relocation Authority kept in the National Archives. My family's number is 2788.

response to episodes

I was curious to see what the general public's response to the episode was and found a few discussion boards about the episode. Reading through the posts was interesting...and actually quite sad to read because quite a number of people who posted said that they had NEVER heard about the WWII camps and were quite shocked to learn about them. In fact, one person posted that they actually missed most of the episode because when it started, they went online to find out whether the history was true or not.

Here are the forums that I found that had posts regarding the episode:
TV.com

surprising ending

I was surprised by the ending too. I was a little worried about how it was going to end with some of the directions they were going into. They managed to cram a lot of facts into the story which I was really grateful for. I just wonder for others who aren't already familiar with the history how much of it was understood since they didn't go into much detail. One thing I noticed from the beginning and really appreciated was the fact that none of the primary characters spoke with a Japanese accent.

I heard that they build the Manzanar set here in Southern California somewhere in the Valley (can't remember if it was Simi Valley or around Northridge maybe?). Apparently, it got messed up though before they had a chance to film because of the strong Santa Ana winds we had the other month during the time of all of those huge fires around So. Cal. I guess they must have fixed it.
Cold Case

Saw it and loved it. Thought that the writers did a great job in weaving the facts about camp into the storyline. Where was the scenes from Manzanar filmed? I wasn't able to guess the killer until the very end (and usually I can figure it out halfway through).

Cold Case episode about the Manzanar airs Sunday, December 9 in the U.S.

Tomorrow's episode of Cold Case on CBS features a case centered around the incarceration of Japanese Americans during WWII. Part of the episode is going to be set in Manzanar. The staff at the Hirasaki National Resource Center at the Japanese American National Museum helped the writers of the episode with some research. The writers also consulted with one of the Museum's volunteers and visited the Manzanar site.

Here's the info on the episode from CBS' website:
