Recuerdo más vívido de la experiencia militar
When I was in Germany, we came across a political prisoner liberated out of Dachau - he was just skin and bone. The former 'POW' was fluent in many different languages so we kept him as our interpreter. After we had orders to go home, he left us to look for his wife who was also a 'POW' in parts unknown. After finding his wife in Italy, they immigrated to America. After arriving in America, everyplace he went seeing a Japanese, he would enquire if they knew a Sgt. Mori (NY, Chicago, SF). Eventually he came to Orange County and went to work as a janitor in a shoe manufacturing plant - there he met Daisy Yamamoto, who worked at the same plant, and asked her if she knew a 'Sgt. Mori.' She told him she knew a 'Mori family' who lived in Orange County and they had a boy who was in the service. She gave him my phone #, so Mr. Morris placed a call. When he called, I was so shocked that he was able to find me in this large country. We kept in touch and he became a successful businessman in the war surplus business and his wife being an educated woman - she continued her education at Long Beach State. She received her degree in education and was an instructor at a Jr. College in San Bernardino. Unfortunately, I guess with all the harsh treatment he received in the prison camp, he died of a heart attack early in life. This showed me how small a world could be.
