After meeting some diehard karaoke-singers last year I have gone karaoke-ing more than I ever have in my entire life. It's always fun to just relieve some stress with your favorite songs and even if you're not that great it doesn't matter: just enjoy it. But there are definitely some wonderful singers and in Sawtelle they have both English and Japanese songs so you can hear the range of skills.
