Watch Watch Licensing

Black and white silent amateur films by Dave Tatsuno (1913-2006), a businessman in the San Francisco Bay area. Tatsuno's films, before 1942 and the forced exclusion of World War II, generally show family outings, sporting events, holidays, celebrations, and the family business.

This segment, from ca. 1940, shows Dave and Alice Tatsuno and friends on a July trip to Yosemite National Park; camp tents with people seated at picnic tables [dark]; driving through Yosemite Valley; Yosemite Falls; El Capitan; Alice feeds a bear; road sign, "Glacier Point"; vista over Yosemite Valley and Half Dome; an unidentified man takes a photograph; three unidentified young men, seen from behind, overlook the valley; Half Dome, viewed from Glacier Point; the outcrop at Glacier Point; Yosemite Valley vistas (02:21).
