Color silent amateur films by Dave Tatsuno (1913-2006), a businessman in the San Francisco Bay area. Tatsuno's films, before 1942 and the forced exclusion of World War II, generally show family outings, sporting events, holidays, celebrations, and the family business.

This segment, from the late 1930s or early 1940s, shows the Tatsuno, Okada, and Tsuchiya families on a spring trip to Yosemite National Park; Shojiro Tatsuno standing by a river, being photographed by his son Masateru ("Tut"); Yosemite Falls; family members standing beside the rushing river, and crossing a bridge; a Native American papoose plays with a bow, on a blanket laid with handicrafts; Half Dome reflected in a lake; Shojiro stands on a rock, waving his cap; scenic views of Yosemite; family members at a drinking fountain; someone in another car feeds and pets a deer (02:30).

Tatsuno's notes on this clip: "Yosemite - family and Mr. and Mrs. Tsuchiya - June".

Credits: Dave Tatsuno Collection, Gift of Dave Tatsuno, in Memory of Walter Honderick, Japanese American National Museum (91.74). Preserved and made accessible in part by a grant from the National Film Preservation Foundation.
