If you look at George Hoshida's painting, Kilauea Military Detention Camp, you will see a center street, between a mess hall on the left and a barrack on the right. To the left of the mess hall, there are two wooden cabins, one with two windows and the other with only one window. Although not shown in the painting, the row cabins extended to the left. This picture item is what those cabins look like today. (2007)

Susan Turner Purvis recently visited the Kilauea Military Camp in Hawai'i, and sent this picture, along with a detailed description, back to the Japanese American National Museum. To see a Nikkei Album collection on George Hoshida, please see the George Hoshida collection.
