Frank Kamiya became involved in the Japanese Canadian community in the early 1980s, when his children were entering their teens, to keep himself and his family connected to their heritage. Since then, he has taken a strong interest in preserving Nikkei history. He is a board member for the Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre in Burnaby, B.C., which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. In the future, Frank looks forward to expanding the
museum's exhibit space, artifact collections, and programs.
