 US commitment to the region and to its traditional alliance posture. With 
 the ROK&rsquo\;s focus on intra-Korean rapprochement\, Japan&rsquo\;s crit
 ical concern over North Korea&rsquo\;s short and medium-range missiles\, a
 nd uncertainties over the possible results from the upcoming Trump-Kim sum
 mit in Vietnam\, the risk of misperception and miscalculation is high. Joi
