He was President of the Surrey Berry Growers&rsq uo\; Association and a volunteer at the Japanese Language School. During W orld War II\, he and his family endured the hardship of the internment cam ps and the repossession of his farmland\, profitable business and home. &n bsp\;He wrote 80 letters to &nbsp\;government offices and ministers\, figh ting to regain his land.
