Born in Venezuela in 1963\, de Frutos began his dance training in 19 80\, continuing at the London School of Contemporary Dance and at the Merc e Cunningham School\, New York. His work is in the repertoire of many ball et and contemporary dance companies including Rambert Dance Company\, Scot tish Ballet and The Royal Ballet among others. In 2000\, de Frutos became one of the first recipients of an Arts Council Fellowship\, through which he studied the works of Tennessee Williams. He represented Britain at the 2006 Venice Biennale. De Fruto's film and TV credits include "The Long Roa d to Mazatlan" in collaboration with Isaac Julien\, which was nominated fo r the Turner prize in 2001.
