Manzanar was the first of these camps to be established.\n\nTh e afternoon program\, held at the Manzanar cemetery site\, will begin with a performance by <strong><a href="http://www.studentgroups.ucla.edu/kyodo " target="_blank">UCLA Kyodo Taiko</a></strong>\, the first collegiate tai ko group in North America.\n\nThe featured speaker at this year&rsquo\;s P ilgrimage is former Heart Mountain internee and draft resister <strong>Tak ashi &ldquo\;Tak&rdquo\; Hoshizaki</strong>\, who is active with the <a hr ef="http://www.heartmountain.net" target="_blank">Heart Mountain Wyoming F oundation</a>\, a non-profit organization that is working to establish an Interpretive Learning Center at the site of the Heart Mountain concentrati on camp near Powell\, Wyoming.\n\nThe afternoon program will conclude with the traditional interfaith service and Ondo dancing.\n\nIn addition to th e daytime program\, the Pilgrimage continues that evening with the popula r <strong>Manzanar At Dusk</strong> (MAD) program\, co-sponsored by the <a href="http://www.lpusd.k12.ca.us" target="_blank">Lone Pine Unified Schoo l District</a> and <a href="http://www.lpusd.k12.ca.us/highschool" target= "_blank">Lone Pine High School</a>\, scheduled from 5:00 PM to 7:45 PM at the Lone Pine High School gymnasium\, located at 538 South Main Street (US Highway 395)\, in Lone Pine\, nine miles south of the Manzanar National H istoric Site\, across the street from McDonald&rsquo\;s.\n\nMAD participan ts will have the opportunity to interact with former internees in attendan ce to hear their personal stories and discuss the relevance of the concent ration camp experience to present-day events and issues.\n\nA panel discus sion\, small group discussions and an open mic session will provide MAD pa rticipants the opportunity to interact with former internees in attendance to hear their personal stories. They will arrive at the Manzanar N ational Historic Site at approximately 11:30 AM. Free\, all-day parking is available at Maryknoll.\n\nBoth buses will take participants to the Inter pretive Center at the Manzanar National Historic Site after the afternoon program. The early return bus will leave Manzanar at 4:30 PM\, returning t o Los Angeles at approximately 8:30 PM.\n\nThose wishing to attend the Man zanar At Dusk program should reserve a spot on the late return bus\, which will depart the Interpretive Center at 4:30 PM as well\, but will then ta ke participants to Lone Pine High School for the MAD program.\n\nThe late return bus will depart for Los Angeles immediately following the MAD event \, arriving in Los Angeles around midnight.\n\nBus reservations are now be ing accepted from members of the general public on a first-come\, first-se rved basis.
