Dr. Motoshige Itoh, Professor and former dean of the Graduate School of Economics at Tokyo University, President of the Natinoal Institute for Research Advancement, and all-around leading Japanese thinker on economics, is something of a Paul Krugman figure in Japan. As such, his ideas have been much in demand following the Great East Japan Earthquake, as Japanese policymakers and citizens alike look for answers and forecasts about the future of their nation's economy.

Chicagoans are in luck, then, as Dr. Itoh comes to the Union League Club to speak about the surprising resilience of the Japanese economy, and the prospects for the future of the country as it rebuilds and recovers. This is a can't-miss lecture for anyone concerned about the effects of crises, both natural and manmade, on the state of their country's economy.
