About

I am currently a Ph.D. student at the University of Pennsylvania working with Prof. Eiichiro Azuma on a project about the postwar Japanese immigrant experience in America. My current dissertation project focuses on the role of some US nikkei in helping promote Japanese food culture and travel to Japan following WWII.

I specialize in working with Japanese-language documents and just returned from a 15-month Fulbright fellowship in Tokyo.

Prior to my doctoral work, I studied under Prof. Ken Ruoff and Prof. Hillary Jenks at Portland State University (2009-2011), where I wrote my thesis about post-internment resettlement in Portland, Oregon.
