Jun Cura Bongolan is a yonsei Filipino-Nikkei Canadian.

Born to an indigenous Filipino father and a sansei Filipina mother, he has been involved in both Filipino and Japanese communities in his hometown of Toronto, Canada. He is currently a member of the Young Japanese Canadians of Toronto (YJCT), a social networking group focused on community-building and identity among Nikkei youth. In his spare time, he also volunteers at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre and the Momiji Health Care Society.

As a future cultural anthropologist, he is interested in exploring what it means to be Nikkei in the 21st century. In addition, he hopes to bring awareness to mixed-race identity, LGBTQ+, mental health and the narratives of other Japanese diasporas within the global Nikkei community.
