Taiko Database

The Taiko Database compiles a comrehensive repository of information representing the depth and diversity of contemprary taiko outside of Japan. It has been designed to enable taiko ensembles to record and continually update their organizational histories and missions in their own words and through their own images and sounds.

Search the database by group name, region, and several other characteristics. The Taiko Database includes taiko groups from the United States, Canada, South America, Europe, and Australia. Groups are able to add and continually update their contact information, history, philosophy, and performances, as well as upload images and MP3 audio files. We hope that the Taiko Database continues to grow and expand as taiko does.

The Taiko Database was initially developed in conjunction with the exhibition, Big Drum: Taiko in the United States, at the Japanese American National Museum in 2005. If you have any questions in regards to the Taiko Database, please contact editor@DiscoverNikkei.org.
