Living conditions
Barracks - bunk - two to a room. Gang shower facilities. Meals were excellent. Base gym, swimming pool, recreation center, movie theatre, trips to Houston, Dallas and San Antonio.
Most vivid memory of military experience
Boot camp - standing out in the pouring rain, guarding a pair of officer's sox and underwear on a clothesline as part opf a disciplinning action. Aircraft carrier qualifications - landing on a carrier during training exercises as a passenger in A-6 Skyhawk.
Missed most whilst in the military
Camaraderie and the close friendships due to adverse and disciplinary training and exercises.
Most important thing, personally, to come from military experience?
Discipline ; Training aof body and mind to enjoy adverse conditions and challenges; Warking as part of a team to accomplish goals; Strong sense of God and country.
