Living conditions
Living conditions were primitive. We stayed in captured dugouts or outdoors.

We bathed in creeks where available.

Meals were mostly K rations. Occasionally, we had hot meals when conditions were right.

We didn't have much for entertainment, except in the rear area. Mostly, we played cards.

Most vivid memory of military experience
When I was going back to the aid station after being wounded, a sniper emptied his rifle at me as I was running along the trail. I must have looked like a scene from the Keystone Cops movie.
Missed most whilst in the military
I missed my sleep and leisure time.
Most important thing, personally, to come from military experience?
The many friends I have made during my military service. These are people I will never forget, especially the K.I.A.'s.
