On Aug. 1, 1944 Anti-Tank Co. (442nd) was detached and assigned to 517th Airborne Infantry Regt. Combat Team. Participated on D-Day Southern France invasion with 43 WACO gliders. Anti-Tank Co. landed in LeMuy, France, the takeoff point above Rome, Italy. Ten glider troopers were wounded. On Oct. 21, 1944, A.T. Co. was relieved from 517th and rejoined the 442nd at Bruyeres, France.
