Final assignment - lived on LCU (boat) in France with showers and small mess area - entertainment - cards. Prior to going on Boat in France, lived in tent, common showers, external (open) latrines - cards. Radio School - barracks with showers, mess hall. Entertainmnet - cards, movies. Basic Training - barracks with showers, mess hall . Entertainment - games, movies, going home on passes.

Most vivid memory of military experience

Living in close quarters with 14 others on boat where one very large G.I. wouldn't take showers. Getting married on New Year's Day and getting back to base AWOL a few hours. No charges were made.

Missed most whilst in the military

My girl-friend, subsequently wife. We got married while in service.
