Living in America, my mom would celebrate all her Japanese traditions. Her favorite was Hinamatsuri on March 3rd. Mom would dress me in a traditional Japanese kimono with a kanzashi in my hair, getas on my feet and make-up on my face. I was ten years old when Mom took this photo of me and her five tier Hina set of dolls. Afterwards, we ate pink Sakuramochi wrapped in cherry blossom leaf. I can still taste the mochi long after my mom's passing. Her Hina doll set and my photo would always remind me of Mom on Hinamatsuri.
