Dan Kubo (Cortez, California), a participant at the "Whose America? Who's American? Diversity, Civil Liberties, and Social Justice" National Conference in Denver, Colorado presented by the Japanese American National Museum.
The photo was taken at the Discover Nikkei booth in the Community Marketplace on Saturday, July 5, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency, Denver.
Dan Kubo comments:
I felt drawn to this event on several levels. As an educator, I feel a need to become further educated and acquire material to more effectively teach the Japanese American experience. As a Nikkei I wanted to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Redress along with others of our community.
As a member of the JA community of Cortez, I am faced with its disappearance. I would like to keep Cortez alive in story in any way possible.
And, events of this type are a great time o renew old friendships and to meet new people - I love it.
