The back of the endorsement card:
Thanks to Senator Dan Inouye, the University of Hawai'i at Hilo's College of Pharmacy will graduate its first class of pharmacists in May, 2011. His seniority was instrumental in providing the $3.9 million the College needed to help get off the ground.
This investment is money very well spent. The pharmacy programs at UHH are projected to generate $50.2 million per year in economic activity, $4.2 million in tuition revenue per academic year for the University, and another $15 million in earnings.
With the Senator's assistance UHH also received $16 million in federal stimulus funds to become the administrative center of a Beacon Community Grant, user to bring providers and patients together to improve healthcare quality, access and efficiency.
The College of Pharmacy will produce homegrown, world-class pharmacists who will contribute to the overall health of our economy and our community.
