Interning at the Japanese American National Museum
Interning at the Japanese American National Museum has been an amazing experience. I won’t go into too much detail right now because I will be writing another article about it shortly, but this is a picture of me kneeling next to my grandma’s picture in the Common Ground exhibit at the museum. I thought it was kind of funny that since I’ve been working here, I noticed that there is a part of the exhibit where this picture, my grandma, is right across from my grandpa, Bill’s, quote! I’ve been wondering if this was just a coincidence or intentional.
Just working in this environment has brought me back to why I love being part of the JA community and why I’m doing the Nikkei Community Internship program this year. We have such a rich cultural history and there are so many people out there who care. It’s great to be at the hub of it all.
