Chicago Day of Remembrance

Licensing

here are a few of the past annual Chicago DOR events co-hosted with the CJAHS, JASC and JACL. The events have been open to the public free of charge. The three Chicago based organizations have hosted, films, plays, readings and many guest speakers. After the program, there is a buffet and a chance to discuss ideas with other guests.

The DOR program is a commemorative event focusing on the Issei and Nissei who suffered incarceration during World War II.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s February 19, 1942 signing of Executive Order 9066 allowed the U.S. military to forcibly remove and incarcerate over 110,000 men, women and children during WW2.
