Ayumi Takenaka
Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Bryn Mawr College. Her current research interests include migration between countries, the flow of goods and information, and the resulting social impacts. She is currently conducting research on re-migration from the US to the UK, Asian migration from Latin America to New York and Los Angeles, and the Peruvian diaspora.

2008年の夏、在日ペルー人の追跡調査をするため、アメリカの大学の夏休みを利用して、一年ぶりに日本に戻った。この調査を始めてかれこれ１０年 以上になるが、今回の目的は、ペルー人コミュニティーの「新たな」課題を探ること。そのヒントを得るため、コミュニティーのリーダーたちに会い、研究者か ら話しを聞き、以前からの親しい友人たちを訪れた。その間、ペルーのレストランや学校にも足を運び、メディアの関連記事にも目を通した。南米から日本へ の、いわゆる「出稼ぎ移民」が始まってから早18年…
