Seiko Nishidate


Born in Iwate Prefecture in 1948. In 1964, he and his family of five settled in the Alto Paraná settlement (now the Pirapo settlement) in Paraguay, and have been engaged in agriculture ever since. Currently, they mainly cultivate soybeans, corn, wheat, etc., and the cultivated area is about 300 hectares. Part of the farm has been left as a virgin forest and opened as a park. He serves as vice president of the Pirapo Japanese Association and president of the Pirapo Iwate Prefectural Association. He was the central figure in collecting and organizing the materials for the Pirapo Migration Museum, which was opened to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Pirapo settlement. His hobbies are painting and historical research.
