Namio Mitsui
Born in Nagano Prefecture. In 1938, at the age of 16, he was accompanied by his parents to La Colmena, the first Japanese settlement in Paraguay. After World War II, many Japanese farmers left the La Colmena settlement for Argentina and Brazil. Together with his friends, he worked to introduce fruits such as grapes, plums, peaches, mangoes, and ponkan oranges, and La Colmena later developed to the point where it became known as the "fruit village" of Paraguay. During that time, he held important positions such as chairman of the local agricultural cooperative and president of the cultural association, and later president of the All Paraguay Senior Citizens' Club Federation, and now lives a leisurely and comfortable life.
