Louise Akuzawa
Born in Tokyo. After working in the programming department of TBS Radio, she wrote as an editor for entertainment magazines and music magazines. She then moved to Canada after working at the Expo '86 Transportation Expo (Vancouver). Since then, she has worked as a freelance writer for the Japanese newspaper "Vancouver Shimpo," writing articles about events in the Japanese community and interviews with Japanese people. She joined the reporting team in Vancouver during the official visit of Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress to Canada in 2009. She is interested in the history of Japanese fishermen who immigrated from Mio Village (now Mihama Town) in Wakayama Prefecture. Her hobbies are writing and composing songs. She lives in Vancouver with her Canadian husband and son (11 years old).

For 27 years before World War II, the legendary baseball team “Vancouver Asahi” excited the West Coast of Canada and gave courage and pride to the Japanese community, which suffered from racial discrimination.
