DESCRIPTION:What is COPANI?\n\nThe name COPANI was formed from the Spanish 
 words Convenci&oacute\;n Panamericana Nikkei which translates to Pan Ameri
 can Nikkei Convention. It is an event held every two years in a member cou
 ntry of the Pan American Nikkei Association (PANA) or Asociaci&oacute\;n P
 anamericana Nikkei (APN). PANA/APN is an international\, non-profit\, non-
 political\, and non-religious institution that brings together Japanese de
 scendants of the Americas. The first convention was held in 1981 in Mexico
  City after being conceived by the founding president\, Mr. Carlos Kasuga.
