Every summer, young and old alike look forward with great anticipation as each temple in the Buddhist community hosts O-Bon services and dances. In a few weeks, colorfully lit chochin will adorn the many Buddhist temples on the Big Island, heralding O-Bon season. The Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin welcomes everyone in the island community to its annual O-Bon observances to be held from July 13-14.

With over 600+ member families, the Hilo Betsuin's members enjoy a large arrary of activities and events that bring together families and friends to work and play together. Our Jodo Shinshu Teachings reflect on living and spreading the Dharma. By following the Eight-Fold Path and embracing the Four Noble Truths, members learn to live each day fully and richly.

Friday, 7/13 - 7:00-10:00 p.m.; service: 6:00 p.m.

Saturday, 7/14 - 7:00-10:00 p.m.; service: 6:00 p.m.
