Obon Festivals happen during summer, and they celebrate life, death, and community. It is an important part of Japanese culture, and they typically include dancing, taiko, food, games, and much more. It is a great family event.
12:00 noon      Opening Ceremony (Yagura)
All afternoon Ikebana and Bonsai Displays, Raffle Drawings
12:15 pm       Shorinji Kempo
12:30 pm       Tai Chi Demonstration
12:30 pm       Tea Ceremony (sign up at the Team Room)
1:00 pm         Aikido of Monterey 
1:30 pm         Bonsai Demonstration
2:00 pm         Introduction to Buddhism 
2:00 pm         Bojuka Ryu / Botan Joshi Judo Kai 
2:30 pm         Ikebana Demonstration
2:30 pm         Tea Ceremony (sign up at the Tea Room)
3:00 pm         Shinsho Mugen Daiko (Taiko)
3:30 pm         Obon Service, Rev. Jay Shinseki officiating
4:00 pm         Bon Odori Dance, Final Raffle Drawing, Silent Auction and Quilt Raffle close
